Reflections over the strike

The journalism's school of the university of Chile have now six weeks on a strike. Almost every year the career suffers a strike because of the different demands of the students: a free education, a quality education and  the end of the business around the education, among others.

At an internal level, the students of my career decide to strike for the precariousness of our faculty. The university of Chile is very unjust in the distribution of its funds, it has faculties with amazing infrastructure and resources, while others (like mine) doesn't have a enough chairs, tables, places to eat, basic materials or space to work and study.

I think that the commitment of the students with the strike is very low. Last year I was fully committed with the movement but soon I realize that a lot of students vote for the strike and then doesn't participate of the programmed activities. Also there are some students that vote for the strike to delay tests and exams. With this kind of commitment I felt that it wasn't worthy to remain in Santiago, away of my family, to be part of a movement like that.

I have classmates really committed with the movement that really act thinking in change our situation for the better, but this year I chose not to participate of the strike and travel to Puerto Varas to wait the returned of the classes with my family and boyfriend, so I think that I can't talk about learnings acquired with the movement and strike of this year, however I have used the time to read and work in personal projects.
